Thrilla in Westminsta! Terriers defeat Cosmos

The Terriers and Cosmos were locked in a classic battle between two teams reaching their mid season form. Reminiscent of the historic rivalry that saw sold out gymnasiums for many years the two teams battled to the very end, with BF coming out on top 58-55.

“What a game, what a crowd,” said Head Coach Evan Chadwick. “Springfield is not a 1-6 team, they are physical, skilled and well coached. No one should sleep on them the second half of the season.”

Bellows Falls would take a 6 point lead into halftime. The Cosmos responded in the third, outscoring the Terriers by 9 and at the buzzer, an NBA range 3, gave the Cosmos their first lead of the contest.

The final 8 minutes were full of swings, with neither team gaining any meaningful seperation.

Jamison Nystrom (12 points) was simply sensational in the fourth, diving on a loose ball, hitting several pull-ups and adding 3 free throws. Jake Moore (12 points) battled the bigger Cosmos all night and added a clutch floater in the fourth to keep BF ahead.

“Jake and Jamio played like captains tonight,” said Chadwick.

The Terriers extended their lead to as many as 8 with 3 minutes remaining, but the Cosmos would not go quietly, as their press generated several turnovers to narrow the lead to as little as 2.

Walker James proved clutch in the final minute, hitting 2 free throws to extend the lead back to 4 and the Cosmos were unable to hit a desperation shot as time expired.

BF has now run off 3 straight wins and jumps above the .500 mark at 4-3.

The Terriers will travel to Jacksonville on Friday to face off with Twin Valley. JV tips at 5:30pm with Varsity to follow at 7pm.
