WESTMINSTER-The Terriers blew open a 5 point halftime lead over the visiting Wasps on their way to a 58-47 win on Friday night at Holland Gymnasium.
“Proud of the response from our guys,” said Head Coach Evan Chadwick. ”We were facing some adversity after our White River game, and we handled it the right way.”
Woodstock would start the contest on a 6-2 run and would hold a 1 point advantage after the first quarter 17-16. Colby Dearborn hit 2 threes in the quarter, scoring 8 points and Jaxon Clark added 6 of his own to keep the game close.
BF would gain some separation in the second, outscoring the Wasps 17-11, as their man defense started to pay dividends. Jesse Darrell hit two treys, Freshmen Aiden Weir hit a baseline jumper and Will Hallock added 2 blocks and 3 boards off the bench to muscle the Terriers into a five point advantage at the break.
“Hallock was a beast for us tonight,” said Chadwick. ”His hard work in practice is starting to pay off.”
The Terriers would gain further separation in the third quarter, going on a 8-0 run midway through, capped by a crafty touch pass from Cole Moore to Clark that extended the lead to 17.
In the waning minutes of the fourth, Woodstock narrowed the gap to as few as 10 points, but the Terrier bench held fast and closed the contest out to jump to 4-2 on the season.
Dearborn led all scorers with 20, while Clark and Darrell contributed 14 a piece.
BF takes a short New Year’s break and then looks for some revenge on Thursday, as they travel to Whitingham for a 7pm matchup with the Wildcats of Twin Valley.
Twin Valley took home a 51-48 victory over the Terriers last time around in the championship match of the Green Mountain holiday tournament.
“Going to be a heck of a game,” said Chadwick.
