WESTMINSTER-On an icy Thursday night, it took little time for Holland Gym to warm up, as the Terriers boys basketball squad scored early and often in their 70-40 victory over Leland and Gray. With the win, the Terriers now stand at 7-3.
“Our guys come to battle every night,” said Assistant Coach Josh Hanson.
BF would take a 7 point lead after the first quarter and a 13 point advantage at the break. Colby Dearborn scored 13 points in the half on his way to a 17 point evening.
The Terriers would extend the lead to as many as 20 in the third. Caden Haskell was a beast on both sides of the ball, scoring an inside bucket, grabbing 4 rebounds and registering a steal, all in 5 minutes of action.
The Rebels would claw back to within 11, the product of a 9-0 run to close the quarter.
“As a team, we are still trying to emphasize the little things,” said Hanson. “Our toughness will only take us so far.”
Bellows Falls would not let the Rebels stay in the contest long, as they opened the fourth on a 7-0 run and coasted from there. Jaxon Clark scored six points in the quarter and grabbed 3 boards, Cole Moore hit a corner three and Andrew Dunbar registered a steal and a coast-to-coast layup to aide the effort.
BF will put their 6 game win streak on the line on Monday, when they travel North to face off with Sharon Academy at 6pm. There is no JV game.
